This class is suitable for beginners, you will receive a complimentary tutor-led instructional book. You can purchase a chanter and collect at the class for the cost of £30.

County Down native Andy McGregor has extensive experience and knowledge of the Highland Bagpipes having studied in Edinburgh Castle, led Cullybackey Pipe Band as Pipe Major in Grade 1 and has taught All-Ireland solo and World Pipe Band Champions. He has recorded and performed with various artists including RTÉ Symphony Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, The Chieftains, Phil Coulter and has travelled worldwide to teach and perform. Andy is a founding member of Celtic folk/rock group Pure Blarney and a teaching programme, Music Service for Pipes and Drums.

The Summer School’s team of tutors is made up of internationally renowned performers with proven track records as teachers and educationalists. The primary means of teaching and learning will be ‘by ear’ with an emphasis in the less experienced classes of assisting pupils to develop oral/aural skills in addition to instrumental competency and developing core repertoire. All classes are designed for intermediate to advanced (minimum 2 years instrument experience) adults and children over 6 years of age except beginner instrument classes, whistle and sing, set dancing, sean nós dancing, traditional singing & sean nós singing which are suitable for all levels including beginners.
